An abandoned folding chair for the use of pilgrims to the Monastery of Panayia in Tinos, Greece
2 plate etching
19cm x 19cm
Edition of 10
This seatless chair, firmly held in place by a large rock, was seen half-way up the kilometre-long road from the port to the Monastery which dedicated pilgrims climb on their hands and knees. It seemed a particularly cruel joke to offer such a resting place for the weary faithful.
